Q.
What is it supposed to be on the show?
A. City streets.
Q.
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. In New York City.

Q. When did we see it on the show?
A. In Episode 9 of Season One of Resurrection.
After being surprised by Leon Prater while they were having dinner at the steakhouse restaurant, Dexter leads a confused Harrison out the back way and onto the street.

As they walk, Dexter explains that Prater is very dangerous. He gives
Harrison a quick summary of how he killed the Dark Passenger, how he
assumed his identity, and infiltrated Prater's group of killers.
Harrison is particularly surprised to hear that Dexter eliminated
the infamous Gemini killer.
They make a beeline to the nearest subway station, unaware that Angel Batista is following them.
Q. What is it actually in real life?
A. City streets.
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. That white building that Dexter and Harrison exit from is at 166 Franklin St , in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York.
But 166 Franklin is only the south side of a
building that actually faces west on Hudson Street, so the proper
address of the front of the white building is actually 112 Hudson St,.
But don't get confused and wind up on Hudson Street. The side that we
see in the scene for is this south-facing side on Franklin Street. But if you look very closely, it does say 166 above the door that they emerge from.
That white building is on the north side
of Franklin, which means that when Dexter & Harrison walk away from
that building, they are walking southeast across Franklin Street to the
south side of that street, where they wind up under the awning of that teal-green condo at 155 Franklin.
As they talk, they continue to walk east down the south side of Franklin Street, until they reach the next corner, which is with Varick Street, where they turn right to reach the subway.
So the entire scene takes place on Franklin Street between Hudson Street on the west and Varick Street on the east.
So the big question is: since they are supposed to be going out the back door of the steakhouse restaurant, and since the restaurant is also in Tribeca in real life, how close is the restaurant to this white building?
It's
definitely not the rear exit of the restaurant. (As far as I can tell,
the restaurant doesn't have a back door that would lead to a
public
street, it looks like its only exit is the front door on Greenwich St.
) But it's pretty darn close. Exiting the front door, you would
only have to walk a very short distance north to Franklin, and then just
one short block east on Franklin to reach that white building.
The teal-green building where they wind up as they walk
across the street is at 155 Franklin St. It turns out to be a place
called Sugar Loaf Condominiums, and reportedly Taylor Swift owns (or
owned) the penthouse in that building, and paid $20 million
for it back when it was the very first property she owned in New York.
So that's an interesting twist to the location.
( That actually gives Dexter: Resurrection two different connections to Taylor Swift in this season. The other connection is Prater's castle, which is where Taylor filmed her Blank Space video. )
They filmed a lot in Tribeca this season. In addition to this scene, they also filmed the steakhouse restaurant scene nearby, plus the night time scene of the police arresting Lady Vengeance in her apartment, the York Street subway scene, Harrison's Collings College of Criminology, and a minor scene of Dexter dropping off a passenger.
Here is a matching StreetView of The white building that Dexter
and Harrison exit from at the start of the scene

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. Way back in
May, two months before the show aired, I
found an image of Batista (David Zayas) standing in front of an teal-green building. I could see the number 155 on the door, and it
was distinctive enough that I managed to locate it on Franklin
Street while I was in the Tribeca area looking for the many other
locations there:

So when I glimpsed that same teal-green building behind
Dexter & Harrison in this scene, all I had to do was look at
Franklin St to find the white building that Dexter and Harrison
had exited from. And
StreetView made that relatively easy. Their white building turned out to
be right across the street from that teal-green building (Taylor Swift's
penthouse)
